TNA joined in with the festivity of Newton Abbot Christmas Fayre for the first time in our history, celebrating what the town has to offer alongside many other wonderful stalls. In the spirit of the event, our volunteers pulled out all of the decorations to produce a beautiful stall, complete with hanging wreaths and bunting- even members of the lantern parade stopped for a moment to take a look!
Volunteers on the stall enjoyed chatting to people about Transition Newton Abbot, and how they could get involved. Members of TNA’s partner group, Teign Energy Communities (TECs), were also present to discuss the importance of community energy, as well as their current activities and plans. Chris Mastris, a TNA volunteer, said, “It was wonderful to meet people enthusiastic about our organisation and excited to get involved! We’d love to have a greater presence in the community, and we encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch.”
As well as telling people about Transition, TNA shared the spirit of giving (and re-using!) by offering an array of gifted items in exchange for an unspecified donation to the cause. Re-homed items ranged from chutney to jewellery, while the kind donations will help us to continue our involvement with the community- so thank you!
Overall, the night was a great success for Newton Abbot and TNA alike, and a fantastic way to end 2015. We’re looking forward to organising and attending more events in future- bring on the new year!
